Why and where to stay in Ordesa?

From Barcelona you can get to Ordesa town in approximately 3 hours and half via car, the area is located in Aragones Pyrenees, which offers unforgettable views and trails for hiking (you will need a car if you are planning to visit the national park and hike).

We stayed in Hotel Villa Rusell, located in Ordesa town, which offers peace and quiet with a few local restaurants, ideal if you’re looking to relax, get back into nature and have an authentic local experience. The hotel owner and staff are warm and happy to help you find parking and answer any questions about the near by trails, local restaurants and history of the surrounding area (link to the hotel website below).

Day 1: Horsetail Route -17.5 km round trip (6 hours)

Be sure to have a good breakfast, be ready with food, water, jackets and hiking boots - you’re in for full day of trekking in the complete wilderness (don't forget your cameras). From Ordesa town you are able to take a car or bus to the start of the trail.

This trail is easy to moderately difficult and you will start of with a walk through the forrest where you can see wild fruits and vegetables growing and distant views of the waterfalls. Very well marked route between the mountains and the river, where there is plenty of waterfalls to capture on your cameras and offers panoramic view of simplicity and nature.

Day 2: Bujaruelo Valley

The rain would not stop it! So we decided to visit Bujaruelo Valley, stunning river with old rock bridge and one small cafe. If you feel like doing more hiking you can get lost in the forrest and follow the river that leads you to a unique, hidden waterfall. A word of precaution, it’s not easily accessible and is not designed for climbing -100% worth it. Overall, stunning area and wished we could stay longer!
